Submit Your Entry Step 1 of 6 16% INTRODUCTION Welcome to the 2017 Halloween Express DIY Costume Contest. This contest entry form has 6 steps. The first step is this introduction. PLEASE take a moment to read it before proceeding. Step 1: This is where you are now -- the Introduction. Step 2: You will be asked to make a selection of which category you wish to enter. There are six possible costume categories to choose from: Adult Couples, Adult Single, Child/Tween/Teen, Baby/Toddler (newborn thru 4 years), Pet and Group. There are some age restrictions so make sure you have reviewed the details of these costume categories before proceeding. NOTE: The minimum age for the Child/Tween/Teen category is 5 YEARS OLD. Step 3: You will be asked to provide your contact information - all of which is confidential (used only to administer this contest). The information we'll need from you is your name, street address and email address. Make sure you have a valid email address. Note that you have to reside in the United States to be eligible to compete. If you are a first or second place winner, you'll need a Paypal account setup to receive your prize. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using an AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail or similar free email service for your email address, make sure you check your spam folder, bulk email folder or promotional folders for any contest related email notifications. Failure to respond to our notifications within the prescribed time period will result in the forfeiture of any prizes. Step 4: This is where you upload at least one photo for the contest (you can upload a total of three photos if you'd like - video is not accepted). The photos must be a .jpg or a .png file. A single photo cannot exceed 4mbs in size however we encourage you to keep the photos 2mb and under as there's no reason to send large files for this contest. Minimum width should be at least 600 pixels. (NOTE: If your photo file sizes exceed the size specification, you will not be able to complete the entry process and your browser will hang or time out. ) Step 5: The fifth and final part contains four questions, the first 3 of which are required. Since 25% of the judging criteria is based on the answers to these questions, we suggest you take some time to craft your answers before you get to this part. Here are the questions you will be asked to complete when entering this contest: - How did you come up with the idea for this costume? - What items did you use to make this costume including accessories used? How did you make it? Step by step details are encouraged. - What reactions did you get when wearing this costume? - Is there anything else you'd like to share with us about this costume? This question is optional. (There is a maximum limit of 7500 characters per question.) Step 6: Confirmation. Please review your information to make sure it's correct. If so and you have read the rules governing this contest, click the SUBMIT ENTRY button to proceed. TIPS FROM THE JUDGES Make sure the photo you're submitting is a good representation of your entire costume (head to toe) and the photo is a quality photo (e.g. the subject in focus, enough light, costume features are clearly visible, photo quality isn't grainy, etc.). This is really important. We strongly suggest you submit three photos to make sure you are giving the judges the best possible look at your creation. Details matter here. If you are submitting a photo that contains other people or other items in the photo that aren't part of the contest make sure it's obvious what the focus of your photo is. While makeup can certainly play an important role in creating the total costume look, submitting a photo that is soley a makeup look isn't what we're looking for. Makeup only photos absolutely will not win in any category. They may be cool (and we agree it takes some talent and time to do effectively) but this is a costume costume. Makeup only photos aren't going to win. The essay part of this contest is important. We encourage all contestants to take the time to craft an essay that not only explains how you made the costume but also what gave you the idea along with the reactions you received from wearing it. The reality is that we receive a lot of the same types of costume entries for each category. One way to make sure your costume entry gets noticed is to take the time to write a proper essay about the costume you created. CATEGORY SELECTIONWhich costume category are you entering?
